Richard Koh Fine Art is proud to present “XOXO Skeleton”, a solo exhibition by Singaporean artist Faris Nakamura. The exhibition will be held at Richard Koh Fine Art Singapore.
The exhibition delves into the often-overlooked world of insects, inviting viewers to reconsider their perceptions of these fascinating creatures. Through Nakamura’s expertly crafted sculptures, the exhibition prompts contemplation on the parallels between insect and human skeletal structures. By blurring the lines between species, Nakamura invites us to reflect on our place within the natural world and the interconnectedness of all living beings.

Born in Singapore, in 1988, Faris Nakamura graduated with a Bachelor in Fine Arts (First Class Honours) from LASALLE College of the Arts in partnership with Goldsmiths, University of London in 2014. As a visual artist living in an urban cosmopolitan environment, Nakamura is constantly curious about the tectonics of space in relation to its functional uses and architectural design. He is interested in studying the spaces of liberation and freedom as well as concealment and shame and how architecture plays a part in it. His artistic practice often refracts the layers of history, and their relationship to the wider socio-political environment.
Nakamura is the Finalist of the Sovereign Asian Art Prize, 2023 and the Winner of the IMPART Art Prize, 2020. He was awarded the Young Talent Programme Winners’ Solo, 2017/2018, the Grand Winner at the Shitsurai International Art Competition, Kobe Biennale, 2015 and the Winston Oh Travel Award, 2013.
Nakamura has exhibited in shows both locally and internationally. He has showcased at venues such as Richard Koh Fine Art (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia), Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre (Singapore), Gillman Barracks (Singapore), The Substation (Singapore), ION Art (Singapore), Facebook APAC HQ (Singapore), Georgetown Festival (Penang, Malaysia), Ku Bar (Bangkok, Thailand), FASS Art Gallery (Turkey), Kobe Biennale (Japan), and Palazzo Ca’ Zanardi (Venice, Italy).
It is also notable that Nakamura is a flautist and has performed at venues such as the Esplanade Concert Hall and the Victoria Concert Hall (Singapore).
