Exhibition title: To the South
The Deep South of Thailand has been forgotten by people of Bangkok. Is political upheaval really none of your business? We are always in the ambivalent position of oppressing and being oppressed. Can the work of law firm really continue to be separated from such issue? The exhibition ‘To the South’ presents two artworks by Prach Pimarnman and Samak Kosem, both artists having been working in the Deep South of Thailand.

Safe Place, the Memories of Trauma

The documentary of the ‘Safe Place Memories of Trauma’ talks about memories in various aspects that arise from political events, violence, and unrest that began in the year 2004 in the areas of Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat provinces. Prach take time to research to understand the dimensions of feelings that affect all the memories. This project leads him to an understanding of ages, and backgrounds of people’s movements in the past through the stories of interviews and pictures shown the differences of areas where they were changed because of what happened.

Samak Kosem (Thaland）
At an abandoned spot on the beach in Pattani, a city in Thailand Deep South. Nurulhuda shows us the place she almost died drowning into those waves. The narrative of her personal experiences with the waves at her hometown, include her reflexivity in life and society through the story of being a Muslim woman. Voicing her own narrative and that of another woman, she voices the waves within her mind that can never be claimed. This short video explores all sounds being a form of waves, it is the crashing of the sounds of strong winds, sea waves, and women’s voices. To find what we want to listen to or bear to hear it, those waves are always blowing within our minds from one shore to another.
